A New Adventure and Giveaway

Recently, I was fortunate enough to stumble across the resource, Outschool.com. Outschool enables students to take a class on everything from math to sewing. Utilizing zoom, small groups learn together in real time. If you think of it, it is on Outschool, and if it isn't you can request it.
These past few weeks have been spent crafting online classes for Outschool. I wanted to take the most fun and engaging activities that my students and I did in person and translate them into an online format, and then go one step further by creating new, more open ended lessons that will replicate some of the social experiences that our kiddos need now more than ever, especially if your school has switched to an online format.
For the giveaway, peruse the list of classes below. Check out the class description on by clicking on the class (should be linked) and tell me which class you would be most likely to enroll your kid, niece, nephew, cousin in. Hands on History: Ancient Times 1
You will notice that there are some classes that meet on multiple days and then others that are single day sessions. The single day sessions tend to be more social in focus while the multi-day classes are more academic. See you soon!
I would enroll my teen in the Life Skills course. Maybe learning these skills from someone else might light a fire under his butt!

ReplyDeleteMy choice would be the Hands-On Ancient History class, but I think the Minecraft one would be more likely to capture my kiddo's interest. We are ALL about Minecraft this summer.
ReplyDeleteI thought this would be easy choice but I can't just choose one. So I'm just gonna say the three I would either enroll myself, husband or kids which are the Life Skills Cleaning & Chores together, Human Biology or Sewing. I wish there was a school like this when I was growing up to learn some of these skills and information from.

ReplyDeleteI think that the Minecraft class (well to start with at least) would capture the best attention and enthusiasm and then I hope we could go onto the Life Skills cleaning class (dreaming of course because I don't think I could get a volunteer). But I do think the Draw or Paint to Music would be very relaxing and fun too. All look great and it is a wonderful concept!

ReplyDeleteI would enroll, for real, in the Folding for Speed: Build and Compare Origami Planes class. Boy, didn't I and my classmates in grade school work during every break time to fold and make the best-flying, sleekest-looking paper planes? Not only I would be interested in this class, but also our little son who gets into the same type of deal (how does it work? how can we make it?)!

My grandmother would come over and clean my room and wash my clothes by her doing that I didn’t really learn anything! I want my son to be able to grow up not depending on anyone and know to do stuff for himself
